TAL Life Insurance Guide

  • TAL is a massive life insurance company, with around 4 million Australian customers.
  • TAL offers a range of life insurance products that allow for customisation. You can keep what you want and leave what you don’t need.
  • Customisation options include choosing whether you’d like accident, illness, or sports-related injury cover, or a combination of the three.

TAL is one of the largest life insurance companies in Australia, with around 4 million customers spanning the country. They pay over $1 billion in claims to their customers every year, and have a simple line of products that allow you to tailor your life insurance policy to fit your needs.

TAL has a unique perspective on life insurance policies. They know that the one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for many people, which is why they allow you to personalise your coverage through their TAL Lifetime Protection product line.

These life insurance policies include varying levels of life insurance, TPD insurance, recovery insurance, and income protection insurance. You can bundle them all together or choose the one or two that work best for you.

TAL also knows that people’s’ needs change over time. With this in mind, TAL allows customers to change, update, and add new cover to their Lifetime Protection policy over the course of their coverage.

Ahead is a breakdown of the different TAL insurance products, as well as what is covered under each.

Term life insurance, often simply called life insurance, is one of the most popular life cover products people look for. TAL has three different levels of life insurance: Accident Cover, Illness Cover, and Adventure Sports Cover.

Each of these covers you for different death events. You can select all three if you like, or one or two that closely fit your needs. You can also add TPD or Recovery (Trauma) Insurance to the bundle or purchase these products separately.

TPD insurance provides you with a lump sum if you suffer a permanent disability that leaves you unable to work.

Like their other life cover products, TAL has three different TPD policies to choose from. You can select one or all of them if you want, and each covers you for specific life events.

These policies also allow you to select ‘any’ or ‘own’ occupation. Choosing ‘own’ means your permanent disability leaves you unable to work in your specific field. ‘Any occupation’ only covers you if the disability prevents you from working in any capacity.
