I was just about at my wit's end in dealing with Origin Energy (my provider for many years) in trying to get a better deal after our latest bill of nearly $1000 a quarter! Talking to one of their O/S call centres (why Australian companies continue to use O/S call centres) is totally beyond me. I simply cannot understand them! I tried another two energy companies--same result, I can't understand them. I was to give up when I answered a promo by Compare Club. I filled out the form, and about 7pm that night, I had a call from (a) Bastian Riquelme. And Bastian spoke very good clear English! Joy oh joy. We spoke for a good hour with Bastian assuring me he could get a better deal. And, he did. This bloke knows his stuff. He came back with two options and I was leaning towards his first recommendation when I clicked onto their Reviews. The news was not good. They were damned each & every way. I alayed my fears to Bastian. He listened intently to what I was saying--he didn't try to talk me down--unlike other various call centre reps. He respected my concerns (I like that), and immediately switched tact. I should point out here that Bastian did make comment prior to signing me to this other energy company, that while their rates were the cheapest, "Origin Energy ran them a close 2nd." His comment "Alan, I think you would be happier re-signing with Origin...and I would too. Bastian then went through what Origin was offering, and I agreed to sign up. The deal he put together was very, very good. Way better than Origin's own call centre rep was trying to get me to sign--and he could barely speak English (Origin...take note). I'm an old bloke and fair dinkum, I am so sick and tired of trying to understand these O/S call centres. My brain was virtually "fried" prior speaking with Bastian. I can't praise him enough. Condition 8501 requires applicants for certain visas to take out a baseline level of health insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia. Without this level of cover a visa is unlikely to be granted or, if your cover lapses while you're in the country, your visa may be cancelled.
It's important to note that most, but not all, overseas visitors health insurance policies are tailored to meet these requirements. All policies that are available for purchase through Compare Club meet condition 8501.
