OUR HISTORY
Compare Club short history and how we've evolved.
Since Compare Club was born, we’ve continued to grow and help thousands of Australians cut the cost of their household expenses.
2010
Health insurance broker Choosewell is founded. They quickly gain a reputation for expertise and thoroughness when it comes to helping households find better value health cover.
2011
Alternative Media is founded. It launches brands such as Health Insurance Comparison that make it easier for Australians to compare and buy complex financial products.
2012
Alternative Media and Choosewell start working together as they realise their respective specialisms provide an expert end-to-end service for Australians.
2015
Alternative Media launches their specialist life insurance team under the name Life Insurance Comparison, in order to provide the same specialist service as they do for health cover.
2017
Alternative Media and Choosewell merge to create one of Australia’s largest health insurance comparison businesses. Alternative Media have already launched similar services for home loans and energy comparison by this stage.
2019
Alternative Media acquires digital publisher YourLifeChoices, one of Australia’s most trusted sources of financial information for the over 50s.
2021
Compare Club is officially launched to the public. It brings together all the specialist services in one place and also adds credit card, car loan, and personal loan comparison.
2022 and beyond
Compare Club officially becomes the biggest health insurance comparison service in Australia, as it launches its first major TV campaign enticing Australians to Join The Club. The business expands by adding car insurance and enhancing its life insurance offering with the acquisition of financial advisor firm Lifelong.
