Whether it’s new runners, a personal trainer, or even a weightloss coach, your good health is an investment. Before you sacrifice your fitness to the cost of living pressures, did you know there are at least five health insurers offering rebates or discounts for approved personal fitness programs? These include:

  • Medibank

  • BUPA

  • HCF

  • HBF

  • NiB

There are specific terms and conditions for each fund, such as the use of a specific fitness studio chain (HBF), and/or the need for a doctor’s approval of your chosen program (NiB and HCF).

It’s true - it pays to stay healthy:

Does your health insurance cover gym membership? Health funds know exercise is a key part of keeping you healthy. Some health policies cover approved gym memberships and swimming lessons. They’re often found under ‘wellness benefits’ or ‘lifestyle rewards’.

If your doctor has recommended weight loss surgery as medically necessary, you may be able to claim some of these costs through your private health cover, if you have the right cover.

There’s usually a 12 month waiting period, and this type of care is included with gold-tier hospital cover.
